Web development isn’t just about writing code — it’s about building structure, flow, and purpose into a digital space that people trust and remember.
My name is Benjamin Scales and I’m Head of Development at the leading London digital agency Reactive. For me, every website, from the first sitemap to the final launch, needs a clear architecture, intuitive UX, and solid development to truly take root and perform. As anyone who builds for the web knows: “A website is never finished – it evolves.”
Since 2016, leading digital projects has been both my profession and my passion – working across strategy, design, development, and client management to deliver work I’m proud of.

Web projects are a collaborative journey — and my process, built around six core stages, is designed to keep things clear, focused, and stress-free.

We start by talking through your project — goals, audience, timescales — so I can understand exactly what you need and prepare a clear proposal.

I map out the structure: sitemaps to organise your content, and wireframes to plan the user journey before a single line of code is written.

Design & UX
With the structure in place, I explore the competitive landscape, research the target audience, and establish a clear visual direction through references and mood boards. Working closely with design teams, we create a clean, intuitive experience that reflects your brand and guides users effortlessly.

Development & Build
I build the site, typically in WordPress, bringing the design to life with solid, clean code and ensuring it's responsive, fast, and secure.

Testing & Launch
We review everything together, I handle final testing and optimisation, then launch your site to the world — smoothly and on schedule.

Once you're live, I'm still here. Whether it's hosting, maintenance, updates, or ongoing support — think of me as your long-term technical partner.
